Washington Coast Cleanup 2010 T-shirt

This year's colorful design, by Carey Floyd of the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary, features one of the most recognizable seabirds on the Washington coast: the Tufted Puffin (see larger image). Typically nesting in burrows on islands or cliffs with soft soil and grass, puffins prefer steep locations that are safe from predators and close to good fishing areas. Puffins are most vulnerable to marine debris during the winter feeding season, when they spend their time almost exclusively at sea, ranging throughout the North Pacific as far as California and Japan. Marine debris can cause puffin mortality due to entanglement with derelict fishing lines and nets, as well as ingestion of plastic particles from floating debris.

Purchase of this shirt helps support our beach cleanups and other efforts to save our coast and marine wildlife from the hazards of marine debris. To learn more about our amazing coast and marine wildlife, visit the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary website or visitor center.

Shirt features: 100% preshrunk cotton. K, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL.
