Washington Coast Cleanup
April 17,2010
The 2010 Cleanup was a huge success! More than 1000 volunteers brave cold, wet weather and removed over 16 tons of marine debris from Washington's Pacific Coast. These numbers would be amazing in any case, but in spite of such uncooperative weather, they're truly astounding. Our coastal birds, fish, mammals, and beachgoers enjoy a cleaner, healthier environment thanks to the efforts of these volunteers.

"In a world where our oceans are facing unprecedented challenges, its sends a message of hope that people, working together, can make a difference. I'm inspired by and grateful to all the folks who came out to help make our beaches safe for marine wildlife and people. Let's make Earth Day everyday." -Carol Bernthal, Superintendent
